A West Hampstead Studio for London Homes

Paolo Rota Interiors is a luxury interior design studio based in West Hampstead, London NW6. For the past five years we have been based at Alfred Court, on Fortune Green Road, in the heart of West Hampstead. It is where every project begins: where we meet clients, review drawings and samples, and develop each interior with the Italian craftsmen and London trades we work with.

Being part of the neighbourhood matters. We know the houses of NW6 and North West London, from Victorian terraces and Edwardian mansion blocks to period conversions and family homes extended to the rear and into the roof. Being close means we can visit your home quickly, follow the works on site and stay involved from the first sketch to the final styling.

Founded by Italian interior designer Paolo Rota, the studio designs bespoke, Italian-crafted interiors for private clients in London and internationally.

Period Character, Designed for the Way You Live Today

Many West Hampstead homes keep their original features: staircases, cornicing, fireplaces, timber floors and tall sash windows. Our approach is to restore and enhance this architecture, then introduce contemporary comfort through bespoke joinery, considered lighting and a refined palette of materials.

A recent example is a Victorian hallway and staircase in West Hampstead, redesigned with geometric wall panelling, a black painted handrail and a textured runner: a classic entrance given a confident, contemporary character.

Living in West Hampstead: The Homes We Design

West Hampstead sits in the London Borough of Camden, between Hampstead, Kilburn and Swiss Cottage, with three stations on West End Lane. Around West End Lane and Fortune Green, red-brick Victorian terraces and Edwardian mansion blocks sit alongside larger family houses, many of them now divided into flats.

Parts of the neighbourhood, such as the West End Green Conservation Area, are protected, so changes to frontages, windows and roofs need care. When a project includes structural or external works, the interior design is developed together with the architectural and planning drawings, so that layout, lighting and joinery are coordinated from the start.

Inside, the challenges are familiar: narrow hallways, split-level rear additions, small kitchens in period layouts and lofts waiting to be converted. Good design turns them into calm, generous homes, opening sightlines, adding storage through bespoke joinery and bringing light deeper into the plan.
